Oddity (2024) was a couch watch for my wife and me. I don’t think she liked it as much as I did, which happens sometimes, but we definitely had some themes and theories to talk about.

In Oddity, psychiatrist Ted Timmis’s wife, Dani, is brutally murdered while renovating their newly purchased country house. A year passes before Dani’s blind twin sister, Darcy (a clairvoyant who runs a Cabinet of Curiosities), arrives at the country house, now inhabited by Ted and his new girlfriend Yana.

A life-sized wooden mannequin is delivered around the same time, filled with unsettling objects linked to Dani and Darcy. Yana flees in terror after seeing the mannequin seemingly move on its own. Darcy confronts Ted, revealing she discovered he orchestrated Dani’s murder—Olin had only tried to warn Dani before being killed himself. When Darcy attempts to expose Ted, he removes a trap door to make her fall and sends his accomplice Ivan to finish her off.
