About Dark Film Theories

I used to read every word on the IMDb forums …

I’d watch one or two horror or sci-fi movies per day. Then, I’d go to IMDb. I’d check out the director, writer, actors, trivia, etc. Then, I’d head straight for the forums.

That’s where I found insights I couldn’t get anywhere else—insights from dark movie lovers like me, rather than corporate movie reviewers writing for an impossibly broad audience. I’d get new ideas, confirm my own ideas, and have my perspective challenged. It was great.

Then, the forums went away. To this day, I think that was a big mistake on IMDb’s part.

I remained hungry for those film theories. I wanted more discussion about the movies I loved so much. But I really couldn’t find it anywhere online. That’s what gave me the idea for DarkFilmTheories.com.

This site is meant to scratch that itch. The hope is that I’m not the only one with this itch—and that you’ll get a lot out of the theories and analyses I post here. Maybe it’s a pipe dream, but I hope you’ll contribute your own ideas, too. I promise I’ll add the good ones to the articles I write and give you credit.

In the meantime, I hope you enjoy the site. If you have questions or would like to see a particular film covered here, don’t hesitate to contact me.
